Nancy Sue (Mann) Kaddatz

Nancy Sue Mann Kaddatz, 92 of Hillsboro, Texas died November 5, 2020. Nancy loved being at home where she took her last earthly breath as Jesus welcomed her soul into His awaiting arms. Nancy was born January 11, 1928 in Whitney, Texas to Guy and Pearl (Smith) Mann. She was baptized at King Memorial United Methodist in Whitney. Nancy enjoyed life and was blessed with a heart open to giving and helping others; where family, church, the local food pantry, and world missions with the goal of sharing Jesus were benefactors; as well as others wherever she saw a need. She experienced great joy by sending floral arrangements to encourage those in need. Nancy was known for her sweet and gentle spirit. She enjoyed all God’s creation especially rocks, birds and flowers; and she had all of them in her gardens.

Nancy was the 7th of 9 children. She had wonderful childhood memories of all the homes she resided in in Whitney, Hillsboro, Malone, Austin and Denton, Texas. She made friends wherever she lived and would stay in touch with hundreds. Before cell phones, she would stop in towns where her friends lived, find a phone booth and make a call. As her children traveled through different cities and towns, Nancy would remind them who lived where, and encourage them to reach out to family and friends.

On January 2, 1954 she married Alvin A. “Kowboy” Kaddatz in Malone, Texas. She and Kowboy would make their home at Rural Route 1, just north of Hillsboro where they farmed. Nancy was housewife, mother, cook, teacher and nurse to her rambunctious children; and a neighbor to all.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepmother Nora Gill Stack Mann, son-in-law Ronnie Robertson, and grandson Cameron Garland. Also preceding her were siblings: Elizabeth VanWinkle, Dorothy Cannon, Guy Mann, Kenneth Mann, Joanne Russell Cypert, Tom Mann and Pat Lewis.

Nancy is survived by her children who loved her with all their heart: Alvin and Brenda Kaddatz, Alicia Garland, Darlene Robertson, Delynda and Lee Cruz, and Christie Kaddatz and friend, Randall Kline.

She is survived by her sister Ella Elam; and Frances Kaddatz, her dear friend and sister-in-law.

Her grandchildren honored her with their love and affectionately called her Granny: Travis & Christie Kaddatz, David and Sally Kaddatz, Bubba Garland, Amanda & Archie Hatten, Bryan & Toni Robertson, GayLynn and Kevin Ford, R.L. and Aleaha Robertson, Jennifer and Anthony Rodriguez, and Ashley and Andy Soliz.

Her greatgrandchildren loved going to Granny’s to be loved on, to explore the toybox and search the cold drink cabinet: Carson Kaddatz & fiancée Michaela Pearson, Caydince, Charlee and Chase Kaddatz; Joe Ramseyer & fiancée Riley; Andrew & Mikayla Chapman, Kennedy Garland, Chase & Mason Garland, Quinn, Micah and Ally Hatten; Tiffani Robertson, Brandon Robertson, Codi & John Fennell, Justin and Danie Ford, Janie, Ronnie, & Willis Robertson; Landon Robertson; Jeneva and Jemma Soliz.

Great-great-grandchildren: Mikynlee & Reagan Chapman; John, Kate & Jemma Fennell; Blaine and Kyler Doan; and Kemberlie Robertson.

Everyone was always welcomed at Granny’s house and all the family has fond memories of Granny’s Kitchen. Growing up in Hillsboro, she spent lots of time playing in the City Park where a park bench was dedicated in her honor. She enjoyed sitting on her bench and eating picnic lunches; followed by exploring the cemetery and sharing memories and history. Nancy was also inducted into the Malone Community Homecoming Hall of Fame in 2014.
