Nancy Woodfin Kevetter was born September 1, 1928, in New Orleans, LA, to Anne and Robert Woodfin. She married Fred Kevetter on May 5, 1950. They were happily married for 55 years. The two have seven children, seventeen grandchildren and twelve great- grandchildren. Nancy traveled the world with her husband as he served predominantly in the Air Force for 28 years as a chaplain. She was devoted to serving with Fred and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with everyone she met through her beautiful and gregarious smile and warm heart. Her greatest legacy is that all her children are born again believers. Nancy loved church and her home city of New Orleans, growing up in St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church surrounded by her parents, her sister, Mary, and her many aunts and uncles. As an adult, Nancy enjoyed sharing this marvelous city with her children who were her pride and joy. She adored children, and she never minded messy fingers and loud giggles in her home. Getting to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and call them doll babies may have been her greatest joy. Her many homes were always filled with music and home cooked meals with fabulous bread, especially at Christmas time. Nancy was an incredible seamstress and talented artist with an eye for color and detail. She and Fred retired from the Air Force and settled for good in Whitney and was simply known as Granny to many the last years of her life. She is dearly loved by her family who will miss her ready smile, generous heart, and warm soft hugs.
Survivors include her children Dr. Golda Anne Leonard of Galveston, Nancy Light and husband Bruce of Irving, Mary Kevetter of Bowie, Frances Kevetter and husband Frank DeMarco of Seattle, WA, Robert Kevetter and wife Karen of Sunset, Grace Hennig and husband John of Whitney, and Caroline Poe and husband Steve of Benbrook; seventeen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Interim Hospice.
