Nancy Elaine (Siratt) Kiblinger

On November 14, 2023, Nancy Elaine Kiblinger, 84, of Covington, Texas, passed away peacefully at home with her two children, as always taking care of her since the ages of four and two, when they first brought her out of a diabetic insulin shock by themselves. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2023, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Reverend Dr. Ryan Kiblinger of Lakeside United Methodist Church of Streetman, Texas, officiating. A burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 19, at the funeral home.

Her story begins in Cleburne, Texas, on March 14, 1939, the first daughter of Peron and Tommie Siratt. Nancy spent her childhood in Grandview, Texas, before moving to Covington. She was proud to be an Owl and proud of her little town, where she freely gave her time to serve on various committees in the community. When a group started working on the incorporation of Covington into a city, Nancy was right there with them. She served on the very first city council and continued to serve for the next thirty-eight years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Covington for seventy years.

Taking care of her family was Nancy’s vocation and love. On March 7, 1958, she married the love of her life, Eldon Roy and together they taught their children, Charles and Sonya, the importance of family and caring for each other for 58 years. Her greatest joy were her grandsons, “B.C.” and ‘Roy.”

Nancy was a Type 1, brittle diabetic for 73 of her 84 years. At diagnosis, her doctor said she would not survive until adulthood, but she more than proved them wrong. She lived a sugar-free life, but loved to bake for her family and friends, never denying them what she could not have. Her life may have been filled with innumerable pin sticks, trips to the ER and hospital stays, but she seldom missed an activity involving her children or grandsons.

She is survived by her children, Charles Kiblinger of Covington and Sonya Lanham, and husband, Michael, of Cleburne; two grandsons, Bryce Lanham and fiancé Dr. Ashley Sample, of Chicago, Illinois and Royce Lanham and wife Jamie, of Cleburne; great granddaughter Nora Lanham of Cleburne; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Waiting in heaven are her husband, Eldon Roy; parents, Peron and Tommie Siratt; and sister, Beverly Gray.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you contribute to the Kiblinger Family Scholarship Fund, Covington ISD, 501 N. Main St., Covington, TX 76636.
