Nanette was born on March 12, 1950 in Whitney; the daughter of the late Oscar Lee and Bettye Jeane Findley Smith. During her youth, she lived in many parts of the country due to her fathers military career before settling in Austin. She graduated from Reagan High School in Austin and Baylor University. Nanette began working in banking during high school and went to work as a bank examiner for the FDIC not long after college. Later, she worked in the same capacity for the Texas Department of Banking. In the late 1990's she was recognized for her extra-ordinary efforts as founder of the Money Transmitter Regulatory Association. Survivors: an aunt, Billie Barnett, and an uncle, Horace Findley, and wife Phyllis both of Whitney; many nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins.
