Biography

Neil Hazelwood, 71, of Arlington, formerly of Homewood, IL, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in Mansfield. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Born May 6, 1943 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of Glen and Adella (Klemm) Hazelwood. Neil married JoAnn Bielenin in 1963, and in 1968 they decided to move their family to Texas, spending time exploring the United States along the way. He began employment with E-Systems that year where he gained much experience and enjoyed a new career in the computer industry. He loved taking his family on long camping trips, inventing new gadgets, working on cars, and busying himself with a variety of home projects. In his later years, Neil moved back to Homewood to take care of his mother after his father passed away. Neil was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His wisdom and wit will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Survivors include his children, Jeff Hazelwood and wife, Lisa, of Grand Prairie, Karen Clark and husband, Jimmy, of Waco, and Jennifer Pittman and husband, Glenn, of Hillsboro; sisters, Sara Popik of Janesville, WI and Carol Givens and husband, Dale, of Park Forest, IL; seven grandchildren Morgan and Madelyn Hazelwood, Cooper, Kennedy, and Jackson Clark, and Callie and Clay Pittman; and dear friend, Caroline McGilbra. His family and friends loved him very much.
