Nelda Schulz

Nelda Antonia Rose Radke Schulz, 83, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, May 22, 2005, at Providence Health Care Center in Waco. Nelda was born June 11, 1921 in the Honey Flat Community, east of Bynum, in Hill County, Texas the daughter of Otto and Mathilda Piel Radke. She attended school at Honey Flat and Irene. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Malone. On December 28, 1942 she married Marvin Herman Schulz at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Malone in the preacher?s house. The couple moved to Sherman, Texas where her husband served in the Army Air Corps. Marvin transferred to Strother Field in Winfield, Kansas and was sent to CBI Theater at which time Nelda and their two-year old son Danny moved back to Hill County. Marvin returned home on March 21, 1946. They lived in the Honey Flat Community between Bynum and Irene from March 1946 until December 1950 when they moved to the farm between Malone and Irene, where they would live for the next 49 years. She was a homemaker, a first-rate cook, and worked by her husband?s side farming and raising cattle and hogs for approximately 53 years. In February 1999, they retired and moved to Hillsboro. She was a member of St Peter Lutheran Church at Malone until becoming a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro in 2000. Preceding her in death were her parents; three sisters; Baby Radke who died at birth, Ella Degner, and Lenora Trojan; and three brothers, Lafon Radke, Alvin Radke, and Olin Radke. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Marvin Schulz of Hillsboro; three sons, Danny Lee Schulz and wife, Pam, of Hillsboro, Kenneth Lynn Schulz and wife, Judy, of New Braunfels, and Randy Wayne Schulz and wife, Susan, of Malone; six grandsons, Kevin Lee Schulz and wife, Cheryl, of Abbott, Tracey Lynn Schulz of San Antonio, Gregory Marvin Schulz and wife, Julie, of Hillsboro, Kent Ryan Schulz of San Marcos, Kelby Gene Schulz of Austin, and Justin Wayne Schulz of Malone; a great-grandson, Daylan Lee Schulz of Abbott; a great-granddaughter, Lucy Kay Schulz of Hillsboro; two brothers, Lothar Radke and wife, Lillie, of Hillsboro and Alton ?Buddy? Radke and wife, Lenora, of Bynum; a sister-in-law, Leona Radke of Hubbard; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kevin Lee Schulz, Tracey Lynn Schulz, Gregory Marvin Schulz, Kent Ryan Schulz, Kelby Gene Schulz, and Justin Wayne Schulz.
