Nelda Miller Thomas

Nelda Joyce Miller Thomas "Snuffie", 85, of  Whitney passed away on Nov 27th in Hillsboro TX.   Services will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with internment to follow at Whitney Memorial Park.  Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Marshall and Marshall in Whitney.

Nelda was born on October 5, 1936 in Hill County to the late William Troy "Jack" Miller, Sr. and Mildred (White) Miller. She attended school in Aquilla,Tx Basketball 9-12, 4-H 9-10, FHA 11-12, Class Secretary-Treasurer 9-12, Annual Staff 12, Junior Play 11, Senior Play 12, Class favorite 10-11 as well as Favorite Couple with the love of her life, Tommy. She enjoyed playing basketball as a Cougarette ambassador at Homecoming games. Nelda moved to Dallas in 1955 and on April 21, 1956 she married Travis ”Tommy" Samuel Thomas in Aquilla TX. They lived in the metroplex for 40 years before moving to Bosque County near Lake Whitney. She worked at Cotter & Co, and followed the footsteps of her Mother as an Avon representative for many years before working as an administrative supervisor at DFW airport until retirement. She was a member of Prairie Valley Baptist Church and formerly Shepherd Drive Baptist Church in Euless TX. Nelda would never leave the house without being dressed to the nines. She would sit at her desk for hours before bed making sure her finger nails were flawless and her face was well hydrated with Ponds cream. She had a sweet tooth and loved sock-it to me cake. Nelda had very elegant taste even if it meant touching things up with a little gold spray paint. She had such an imagination for design and supervised Tommy in building their retirement home in Walling Bend. Nelda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William "Jack" Troy Miller Sr. and Mildred (White); husband, Travis Thomas; brother, William "Jack" Troy Miller, Jr.; two sisters, Barbara Jo Brown and Betty Louise Miller.

Nelda is survived by her sons; Samuel Troy Thomas and wife, Tiffany, Timothy Keith Thomas and wife, April J. Thomas; 6 grandchildren, Melissa Thomas, whom she raised as a daughter and husband, Chance, Taylor Thomas, Ashley Thomas, Troy (Nick) Nicholas Peters, Tabatha Ruiz, Alexandria Bonner and husband, Robert; 4 great-grandchildren, Sydney Woodhouse and husband, Andrew, Deacon Carr, Evelyn Ruiz and Aislynn Bonner and great-great grandchild, Willow Woodhouse.
