Nell Ruth (Strange) Dalton

Nell Ruth Dalton, 92, lifetime resident of Hillsboro, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 10, 2022, surrounded by her loving family, friends and caregivers.  A celebration of life will take place at 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, with Chaplain Mike Adams officiating.

Nell was born and raised in the Bynum, Texas community. She graduated from Bynum High School. Known to her family as “Memee,” Nell was an avid animal lover.  She was never without a dog or cat by her side.  Memee loved to read, garden and cook.  She was a collector of all things concerning birds, butterflies and angels.  Most of Memee’s days were occupied with her family, her furry companions, and her friends, one of which was her delightful friend, Helen. They spent hours bird watching together on their front porches.

Thank you, Lord, for blessing our family with such a beautiful gift.  Mother spent a lifetime taking care of others.  She loved her family with all her heart.  Oh, the memories we all have of her.  Our hero, gone but not forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Nellie (Branscome) Strange; and her brothers, Winston Strange, and Jack Strange and his wife, Martha.  Survivors include her children, Michael Dalton and his wife, Dianne, of Porter, Texas, Vicki Clinkscales and her husband, Doak, of Hillsboro, Texas, and Cindy Kent of Clifton, Texas; nine grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends who called her Nell.

Special thanks to the staff of Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and her hospice team, Elara Caring and Wings Over Texas. Every one of you are gifts.  We are forever grateful.
