Nell (Smith Giles) Perkins

Bobby “Nell” (Smith Giles) Perkins, 90, of Hillsboro, Texas passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022.  Graveside services will take place at 9:00 am Saturday July 16, 2022 at Milford Cemetery.   Visitation service will take place from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday July 15, 2022 at Marshall and Marshall in Hillsboro.

Nell was born in Fort Worth, Texas on December 4, 1931 to Bob and Jewel Smith.   She grew up in Milford, Texas.  She married Dan Giles of Milford in 1951 and they had two sons, Dan (Laurie) Giles Jr and Ken (Cindy) Giles.  After Dan passed away in 1969, Nell married Ed Perkins in 1972.  They moved to Hillsboro, Texas in the 90’s.  They enjoyed family, friends, church and community.

Nell became a schoolteacher after Dan’s death and taught high school in Greenville and Henderson, Texas for many years.  Later she and Ed traveled to different work locations around the world.   Nell always loved the area where they were and always wanted to return to friends.  She never tired of being an educator and serving others.

She is survived by her sons; grandchildren, Ken (Teresa) Giles Jr, Mark (Ashley) Giles, and Paul Finley; great grandchildren Daniel Giles, Charles Giles, Emma Giles, and Simon Giles; and many, many friends.   She loved openly, gave freely and served continuously.   Her legacy will be felt by many and she will be missed by all.
