Nelson Grant Nix

Nelson Grant Nix, age 85 of Whitney, Texas passed away Saturday August 17, 2024, in Waco, Texas. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney. Graveside services will follow at 10:00 am Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Blanket Cemetery in Blanket, Texas.

Nelson Grant Nix was born June 2, 1939, in Blanket, Texas to Daniel and Rosa (Long) Nix. He was united in marriage to Mona Lee Humphries on October 17, 1957, in Blanket, Texas.  Shortly after marriage, Nelson worked for the general telephone company in Irving Texas in the mid-70s. Nelson moved to Whitney, Texas as the master contractor for Continental Telephone Company where he ran a construction business until he retired in the mid-90s. He was well-known for the quality of the work that his company performed. His motto was quality, not quantity and he instilled that into his sons and employees

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mona Nix.

Nelson is survived by children, Ricky D. Nix, Bettye J. Nix, Nicky D. Nix, and Terry D. Nix, all of Whitney Texas; brother, Dale Nix of Brownwood, Texas; 14 grandchildren and numerous great children and great-great grandchildren
