Nelson Simmons

Nelson "Mike" Simmons passed away February 28, 2006 at the Lake Whitney Medical Center in Whitney.

He was the son of Virgil Lee and Mattie Ethel Worley Simmons.

He had lived in Hill County his whole life. On February 24, 1949, he married Karon Burleson in Whitney, Texas.

Mike worked as a farmer and rancher for most of his life except for the time he served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

He was a Baptist.

Preceding him in death were his parents, 3 sisters and 1 grandson.

Survivors include is wife, Karon of Aquilla; children, Michael Simmons and wife, Shelia of Aquilla, Donna Leas and husband, Tim of Waco, Rhonda Ince and husband, Jessie of Whitney;
brothers, Oliver Simmons of Chalk Bluff, Fred Simmons of Denton;
grandchildren, Christopher Simmons, Warren Ince, Robin Harwell, Clay Simmons, Jessica Ince, Joshua Ince and 3 great grandchildren.
