Nila Smith

Nila Ising Smith, 86, of Hillsboro died Thursday, October 22, 2009, at St. Catherine's Center in Waco. Nila was born November 18, 1922 near Evant in Hamilton County, Texas, where she graduated from Evant High School, was the daughter of John and Sarah Eppler Ising. On August 15, 1945 she married James Smith in Hamilton and he preceded her in death on March 1, 1997. For 15 years she worked as a legal secretary for Martin, Showers, and Smith attorneys. In 1982 she and her husband retired together. She was a member of College Hill Church of Christ in Hillsboro. Also preceding her in death were her parents and two sisters. Survivors include her children, Susan Nelson and husband, Ronald, of Waco and Dennis Smith and wife, Helen, of West; four grandchildren, Rebekah Smith, Elizabeth Hand and husband, Doug, Shelly Nelson, and Scott Nelson; and three nephews.
