Norma Jean Latham McConathy, 86 of Aquilla passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 in Cleburne. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, September 17, 2018 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Bro. Barry McConathy officiating. Burial will take place at Bethlehem Cemetery near Whitney. Mrs. McConathy will lie in state from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Sunday, September 16, 2018 at the funeral home.
Norma was born on January 31, 1932 in Whitney to the late James Crawford and Hallie (Eastering) Latham. She grew up in the Whitney and Aquilla area, graduating from Whitney High School in 1951. On November 3, 1951 she married Francis Derryl “Pete” McConathy and he preceded her in death on September 13, 2017. Norma was a homemaker all of her life, in her younger years she was active in her local church. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, she liked working with ceramics. Playing board games with her children and grandchildren was an activity she really enjoyed. Norma was a member of the First Baptist Church in West.
Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Nelson, Jack, J. D., Charles and Tom; sisters, Ruby, Mary, Sue, Becky and Sissie.
Survivors include her children, Ronnie McConathy and wife, Mary of Burleson, Barbara Finstad and husband, Steve of Burleson, Barry McConathy and wife, Char of Purcell, Oklahoma; sister, Florence Lee Ocker of Rusk; grandchildren, Shannon, Kyle, Nate, Kristen and David; great-grandchildren, Aislynn, Layla, Eli, Zack, Aubrey, Mollie, Avery, Jude, Dez, Austin, Reed and Scarlett.
