Novie Goodman

Novie Louise Boots Reese Byars Goodman, 97 passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Pastor Phil Hunt of Grace City Church officiating. Burial will be at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 25, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Born September 14, 1914 in Pilot Point, Texas, she was the daughter of Harry and Key (McPherson) Boots, Sr. She lived in Hillsboro most of her life. On February 15, 1936, she married David Earl Reese who preceded her in death in 1948. In 1949, she married Dr. Cato Byars and he died in 1964. Novie then married Roy B. Goodman in 1973 and he died in 1985.

Novie was a salesperson for Bond Furniture from 1964 until they closed the store. She worked for Shell’s Dress Shop and Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors for years. She was a member of Grace City Church in Hillsboro and the Business and Professional Womens Club of Hillsboro.

Preceding her in death were brother, Buddy Boots, sisters, Florice McPherson and Narcy Rhodes; and brothers, Madrid Boots, Clint Boots, Melvin Boots, Harry Boots, Jr.

Survivors include children; Harry Reese and wife, Patti of Irving, Barbara Reese Morrison of Austin, Judith Crump and husband, Joe of San Antonio, Peggy Reese of Dayton, Ohio, Carolyn Stoker and husband, Larry of Hillsboro, Nathan Byars of Frisco, Mary Paulson of Euless, Kenneth Goodman of Euless; sister, Dorothy Dollar and husband, Billy of Arlington; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
