O.B. Stringer went to be with the Lord and his beloved Katherine, Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the age of 97 years. He would have been 98 years young June 28. O.B. lived his entire life in Hill County and farmed in the Lovelace community from 1942 until his retirement at the age of 72 in 1983. He was a deacon in the First Baptist Church of Hillsboro for many years and served as head usher in the church for 36 years. O.B. is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Katherine Malone Stringer, his eldest daughter, Kathyleen Stringer Jander, four brothers, and one sister. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Granville & Benay Stringer of Bellville, Texas, and daughter, Paula Stringer of Hillsboro. Also surviving him are grandchildren, DeDe Stringer Tucker & husband, Bill, of Shelton, Washington; Shawn Stringer and wife, Grace, of San Marcos; Lucretia Stringer Cheswick and husband, Damon, of Bandera; Bethany Stringer of Bellville; David Jander and wife, Kara, of Mesquite; Dale Jander and wife, Erica, of Mesquite; and Dwight Jander and wife, LeAnn, of Victoria, Texas. O.B. is also survived by 14 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to First Baptist Church of Hillsboro Memorial Fund, American Cancer Society, or to the American Heart Association.
