Octavio “Obie” Gonzales, 53, of Hillsboro passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. His family will host a memorial service on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Hillsboro City Hall, 127 E. Franklin St. from 4:00-8:00 pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Obie's life.
Obie was born on April 6th, 1961 in Amherst, TX. Obie is survived by wife, Diana; his son, Christopher Gonzales and wife, Sylvia; his stepdaughter, Lisa Sedillo; his step-son, Tony Botello and wife, Angelika; his step-daughter, Vanessa Perez; and his step-son, Alan Torres. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Marisol, Angelina, Christopher Jr, Mia and Aryanna.
Obie had the kind of sense of humor that was hard not to love. Everyone who knew him knew that he loved to laugh, but even more than that he loved to see other people laughing and happy. He was a loving father to all of his children and had a love like no other for all of his grandkids. He had a giving heart and would not hesitate to give out his last dollar to those in need, always putting others before himself.
