Odell Cole

Winnie Odell Cole, 98, of Clifton passed away Monday, December 16, 2013, in Clifton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2013, at Laguna Park Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Odell was born October 18, 1915 in Mabank to Franklin and Cora (Struck) Little. She grew up in west Texas and Arkansas. On January 18, 1936, she married Lawson Smith Cole, Jr. in Dallas. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Dallas until moving to Laguna Park in November 1983. Lawson preceded her in death on October 4, 1996 and Odell moved to Clifton at that time. She was a member of the Laguna Park Church of Christ. Odell loved her church family, loved quilting, cooking desserts, flower gardening, painting, crafts and decorating for parties at church. Odell worked for Frito-Lay in Dallas for 25 years.

Also preceding her in death were her parents and twin sister, Linnie Callie Blackstone, three other sisters and five brothers.

Survivors include her son, Lawson Smith "Skip" Cole, III, and wife, Nancy, of Evans, GA; two grandchildren, Chad Taylor Cole of North Augusta, SC and Jill Anne Cole of Augusta, GA; one great-grandson, Bennett Finn Cole of Augusta, GA; sister-in-law, Margaret G. Cole of Dallas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
