Odell Herrell, 80, of Maypearl died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at his home surrounded by his many friends and family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Bro. Tony Sheffield of First Baptist Church in Maypearl officiating. Interment will follow at Bell Springs Cemetery near Abbott.
Odell was born on April 9, 1930 near the Malone area in Hill County, the son of Charlie and Laura (Lowe) Herrell. He grew up in the Malone and Hubbard area. From 1951 to 1956 he served his country in the United States Army. On August 8, 1954 he married Mary Allen.
In 1992, he retired from Continental Telephone after 35 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the VFW in Waxahachie.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Herrell of Maypearl; two children, Garry Herrell and wife, Leslie, and Sandra Herrell Hensley all of Maypearl; children-in-love, Kevin Stocks, Rika Stocks, and Chris Westbrook; brother, Charlie Buster Herrell of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and countless others that he loved as if they were his own.
