Odessa Schronk

Odessa Schronk, 83, of Hillsboro passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016, at her residence. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro. The family will have a private funeral service.

Odessa was born March 22, 1932 in the Bynum area to Thomas Jefferson and Thelma Mattie (Ramsey) Duke. On May 29, 1948, she married the love her of her life, Ralph Schronk, and they began their life together in Bynum. A happy farmer’s wife, Odessa was a rancher until the day she died, enjoying her cows. She loved tending her flowerbeds and maintaining her extensive yard with her John Deere mower.

For many years, she taught Sunday school and was active in her church and community. She never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, laughing and talking. She was affectionately called “Rosie” by her husband and close family friends. Full of life, Odessa never left the house without being properly dressed and accessorized from her jewelry to her purse to her shoes! She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro, Woodmen of The World Lodge, Farm Bureau, and Senior Circle.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Ralph; parents; four sisters; and one brother.

Survivors include her three sons, Sam D. Schronk of Hillsboro, Wendell E. Schronk and wife, Debbie, of San Antonio, and Donald J. Schronk and wife, Sabre, of Bynum; five grandchildren, Wendy Foltz and husband, Trent, of Houston, Chris Schronk and wife, Tammy, of Round Rock, Mindy Hoyle and husband, John, of Abbott, Mary Joe Schronk of Bynum, and Jonathan Schronk of McKinney; four great-grandsons, Mason Schronk, Landon Foltz, Tyler Schronk, and Carter Foltz; two sisters-in-law, Patsy Cooper and husband, Sam, of Combine and Veree Schronk of Bynum; numerous nieces and nephews; and one special cat, Rowdy Joe.
