Ollidene Alewine

Ollidene Sadler Alewine, age 95, of Waxahachie, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at her residence, Legend Oaks Health and Rehabilitation. Her family will host a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro with a reception to follow.

Born May 3, 1923, in Valley Mills, she was the daughter of Herman Worth and Mary Elizabeth (Bellamy) Sadler. At the age of 3, she moved with her family to Coryell County and grew up there. In 1940 she graduated from Gatesville High School and went on to complete her education at Four C Business school in Waco. On June 2, 1949, Ollidene was united in marriage to Charles Alewine in Gatesville and they celebrated 51 years together before his passing on July 16, 2000. She worked in various businesses during her life, but the job she valued most was raising her family. Her family values influenced her to be a leader in PTA, Girl Scouts of America, and band boosters.

Ollidene lived out her faith in Jesus Christ at First Presbyterian Church of Hillsboro. During the 68 years that she was a member there, she sang in the choir, taught children, held numerous offices, helped with bereavement meals, and worked on the worship committee. She will be remembered by family and friends as a hard-working, fun, and caring person who put the needs of others as a priority. She loved to help at the HIM food pantry, and drive friends to doctor appointments. She loved to travel and never met a stranger.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; granddaughter, Bonnie Gail Reeves; and sister, Dolores Sadler England.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Reeves and husband, Ken, of Waxahachie and Phyllis Palmer and husband, Phil, of Conroe; step-children, Tommy Alewine and Linda Sue Worley, both of Whitney; grandchildren, Kenny Reeves of Waxahachie, Deana Smith and husband, Clifton, of Richmond, Jane Wild of Houston, Paul Palmer and wife, Dolores, of Pearland, Tonja Hodde and husband, Richard, of Texarkana, Tina White Lange and husband, Scott, of Spring Branch, and Clay Palmer and wife, Kim, of New Caney; 14 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Linda Davis of Gatesville.

The family would like to express their love and appreciation to the staff of tireless caregivers and professionals at Legend Oaks Health and Rehabilitation in Waxahachie. Their care and attention greatly enriched Ollidene’s life.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 635, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
