Onnie Mae Boortz, 91, of Malone died Sunday, February 1, 2009, at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. Onnie Mae was born April 18, 1917 in Malone the daughter of Charlie and Emma Manske Sonnenburg. She lived in the Malone area all of her life. She was a housewife for many years. For 26 years she taught Sunday school and was a seamstress at Dress Factory for 18 ½ years. On January 3, 1939 she married Charlie L. Boortz and he preceded her in death on April 14, 1970. She was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Malone. Also preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, one sister, and two grandsons. Survivors include her two children, Lee Boortz and wife, Nancy, of Malone and Paulette Wilkins and husband, Frank, of Hubbard; five grandchildren, Kim Patton of Alabama, Scooter Wilkins of Penelope, Cyndy Humphrey of Hewitt, Chris Wilkins of Colorado, and Dustin Boortz of Dallas; twelve great-grandchildren, Amber Versch of West; Jessica and Arron Wetlesen of Alabama; Nathan and Chrissa Wilkins of Penelope; Tyler, Hannah, and Mattie Wilkins of Colorado; Austin Boortz of Dallas; and Casey Fiesler, Garth Lewis, and Jaxson Humphrey of Hewitt; four great-great grandchildren, Kylee and Nevaeh Versch of West and Ashton Black and Zoey McDonald of Alabama; two sisters-in-law, Mary Sonnenburg of Hillsboro and Anna Marie Sonnenburg of Brenham; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, P. O. Box 40, Malone, Texas 76660.
