Ophelia Almeda (Guthrie) Booth

Ophelia (Felo) Guthrie Booth, age 93, of Whitney, left her earthly body to meet her Lord and Savior the early morning hours on November 7, 2022, at her home.  A visitation will be held at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney on Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., and a funeral service will be held to celebrate her life at the Towash Baptist Church in Whitney on Friday, November 11, 2022, at 2:00 P.M.

Ophelia was born April 25, 1929, to Ralph and Nellie Johnson in Morgan where she attended school. She took tap dancing growing up and played basketball. She married Virgil Guthrie December 26, 1946. They lived the early years of their marriage in Fort Worth and moved to Hillsboro in 1961.  She graduated from Harris Nursing School in Fort Worth in 1961 as an LVN and worked in practically every hospital and nursing home in Hill County yet never applied for a job.  She enjoyed playing card games and doing crossword puzzles, jumbles, and jigsaw puzzles. She kept her mind sharp as long as possible. She loved her family, friends, and church, and people loved her. She made friendships that lasted for a lifetime. She will be remembered fondly by her family for her sweet tea, pecan pie, peach cobbler, and divinity.  Most importantly, she taught her family the importance of living their lives for Jesus, both by words and example. She taught them all problems could be solved by remembering to lean on Proverbs 3:5. Virgil died in 1998, and she married Bobby Booth on June 26, 1999. She was a member of Towash Baptist Church of Whitney.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil Guthrie; brother, Ralph Johnson; sister, Ruby Marie Roberts; and granddaughter, Courtney Leigh Guthrie.

Left behind are faithful husband, Bobby Booth of Whitney; son, Mike (Donna) Guthrie of Tyler; daughter, Robyn Clark of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Michal (Quade) DeBord of Lindale; granddaughter, Megan (Josh) Wells of Hurst; granddaughter, Tiffanie (Robert) Tallman of Chandler, Arizona; grandson, Brandon Clark & fiancée Susan Bishop of Baton Rouge, LA; great grandchildren, Barrett, Collette, Cooper, Presley, Brooklyn and Katelyn; nieces, Lavonne & Vickey; three stepdaughters, Kathy, Pam, and LeAnne and families, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
