Orban Mitchell McCoy, Sr, 91, of Morgan, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at his residence. A graveside service, under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017, at Kimball Bend Cemetery with Mr. Grady Swinscoe officiating. A visitation will take place from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the cemetery.

Orban was born on March 17, 1926, in Grand Prairie, to B.L. and Altha (Woodall) McCoy and grew up on a dairy farm. In 1944, he graduated from Sunset High School. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II, starting at Fort Hood in 1945 for basic training. He was then stationed in the Philippines as they prepared to invade Japan. After Japan surrendered, he went to the Marshall Islands, serving as a cook and also a prison guard for security of Japanese prisoners of war.

On August 30, 1947, he married Patricia Canary in Irving. He worked for LTV in charge of final assembly on fighter jets for several years before starting his own business, Real McCoy’s Incorporated, in Grand Prairie from 1967 to 1987, then to Alvarado from 1987 to 1996. He was a member of the Irving Masonic Lodge #1218.

Preceding him in death were his parents and 4 brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia McCoy of Morgan; children, Mitchell McCoy, Jr and wife, Janet of Morgan, Anita Greer and husband, Billy of Sour Lake, Lisa Wyatt and husband, Gary of Waxahachie; a brother, Cecil McCoy and wife Ima Lee; a sister, Mildred McKibben; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
