Oscar John Holgerson, 85, of Hillsboro passed away on January 6, 2018, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro. No services are scheduled.

Oscar was born on November 26, 1932, in Bismark, North Dakota, to Nickolai and Agnes (Sundquist) Holgerson. After graduating from high school in Wind, North Dakota, he went from trapping wild game and farming straight to the U.S Air Force. His plans for a career in the Air Force changed after his future wife, Juanita Thompson. They were married on January 18, 1952 in Rockwall, Texas.

Not long after marriage, the couple returned to North Dakota for a number of years until moving to Clifton in the early 2000's. After thirteen years in Clifton, they spent two more years in North Dakota before finally settling in the warm climate of Hillsboro.

A talented woodworker, he was known for the intricate details of his creations and also his birdhouses. In addition, he was a gifted poet and artist. He was of the Lutheran faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents and six siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Holgerson of Hillsboro; a daughter, Nicolette Crandall and husband, Neil of Valley City, ND; a sister, Marilyn Heinemeyer; two grandchildren, John Raider Crandall Nissa Marie Crandall; two great-grandchildren, Nickolai Raider Crandall and Noel Eve Crandall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
