Oscar Neel

Oscar was born on May 18, 1926 in Post, Texas, the son of the late Oscar William Neel, Sr. and Mozelle Hastings. He grew up in the Jonesboro and Gatesville areas and graduated from Jonesboro High School. Oscar joined the United States Navy and served from 1944-1946. On October 21, 1946, he married Dorothy Reeves and she preceded him in death on May 1, 2007. He had owned and operated Neel's Plumbing for several years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Whitney. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Neel and sister, Mazelle Hough. Survivors include his children: Bill Neel of Whitney, Linda Finley of Hillsboro; brothers William Neel of California, Frank Neel of Arlington; sister Dorothy Williams of McGregor; grandchildren, Willie Finley, Melanie Osborne, Tracey K. Henderson and Jeffery Barrett Neel.
