Page Perkins

Page Perry Perkins, age 86 of Irene, died July 4, 2011 in Corsicana. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 6 at the Marshall & Marshal Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Gordon Lockett of Emmett Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Itasca Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 PM at Marshall & Marshall in Hillsboro.

Page was born April 23, 1925 in Osceola to Sebe Richard and Etta (Jean) Perkins. He lived in Hill and Navarro counties all his life, and had been a resident of Irene since 1962. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific. After the war, he married Jean Warren on December 27, 1946 in Cleburne. They had been married 59 years at the time of her death in 2006. He was of the Baptist faith.

A life-long farmer and rancher, it was not only his vocation, but his avocation as well. He would rather be working than anything else. He did cherish the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Playing with them and following their accomplishments were some of his fondest times.

Page was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Pete Perkins of Hillsboro; and two sisters, Vernette Hamilton of Itasca and Margie Sisk of Fort Worth.

Survivors include his children, Sue Stephens and husband, Billy of Kerens, Sharon Bowling and husband, James and Devon Perkins and wife, Kim, all of Irene; one sister, Tressie Hilton of Hillsboro; 6 grandchildren, Pam Lane, Jamey Stephens, Amy Bowling, John Perkins, Laura Perkins, and Katie Perkins; 5 great-grandchildren, Emily Lane, Will Stephens, Paige Bowling, Brandon Perkins, and Joshua Stephens; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to the Frost Ex-Students Association Scholarship Fund in care of Frost ISD; PO Box K; Frost, TX 76641.
