Pastor Paul Proctor, Jr

Paul G. Proctor, Jr., 89 of Hillsboro passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro. His family will hold a memorial service in his honor at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Hillsboro Seventh-day Adventist Church.

He was born October 11, 1925 in Texas City to Paul & Elizabeth Proctor. Growing up in La Porte, he attended public school until his last years of high school when he chose to attend a private boarding school, Valley Grande Academy, in Weslaco. After graduating, Paul attended Southwestern Junior College in Keene and while there was inducted into the Navy in 1943. Stationed in San Diego, he married Lillian Chrispens in 1944 and for the next 71 years they shared a full life together. Upon his discharge from the Navy in 1944, they remained in California while Paul attended La Sierra University as a pre-med student moving on to Davenport, Iowa to attend the Palmer College of Chiropractic, where he graduated as a qualified Doctor of Chiropractic. Going home to Texas, Paul practiced as a Chiropractor in Palestine, Laredo, and Port Arthur. Always actively involved in his local church of the Seventh-day Adventist denomination, it was while living in Port Arthur that this involvement became a lifelong commitment to the church. In 1965, Paul accepted a call from the Texas Conference of Seventh-Day Adventist, becoming a pastor and for the next 50 years served the church that he loved while ministering to congregations in Oklahoma, Arizona, and Texas. Paul and Lillian moved to Hillsboro in 1995, where the idea was to retire and live close to family. But the local church there needed a pastor and Paul agreed to act in that capacity. Meeting other pastors in the area, Paul was introduced to the Hillsboro Interfaith Ministries and found another way of ministering. He served as the H.I.M. President for 12 years until deteriorating health forced him to retire as president.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David; and three sisters, Hazel, Rosemary and Betty.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian of Hillsboro; son, David Proctor and wife Sarah, of Arlington; and three grandsons, Aaron Proctor and wife, Hayley, of Arlington, Austin Proctor and wife, Whitney, of Fort Worth, and Alex Proctor and wife, Lauren, of Houston.

Memorials may be made to Hillsboro Interfaith Ministries, P. O. Box 793, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
