Patricia Ann (Davison) Ward

September 20, 1936 — March 1, 2022

Patricia Ann (Davison) Ward

The closing chapter of Pat Ward’s earthly life was written Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  A native Hillsboro resident, Pat was born on September 20, 1936, the third child of Robert and Mozelle Davison.  A private family entombment will be held at Hillcrest Garden of Memory.  Pat’s family is hosting a memorial service celebrating her life at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 5, 2022, at First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro, 315 E. Elm Street, Hillsboro, Texas, 76645, followed by a “Pie for Pat” reception in the family life center.

Pat attended all Hillsboro schools including Franklin School, completing her education as a Hillsboro High School graduate.  She went on to become a licensed beautician working in Cleburne and Hillsboro.  Pat married Joe Ed Ward on August 2, 1957, and together they celebrated more than 64 years of marriage, making their lifetime home in Hillsboro, Hill County.

Pat’s favorite titles were wife and mother.  But this changed quickly when she became a grandmother and answered to Ma.  Known for being an incredible cook and baker, family and friends always enjoyed a wonderful meal and dessert (coconut and chocolate pie) from her kitchen, particularly her grandsons.  Her knack for decorating her home, especially during the holidays, was admired by many.  Any time there was a shower or party to host for a special occasion, Pat was the first to share her time and talents.

Pat valued volunteerism at school and church.  She was a member of and officer for the historic Philotechnos Kindergarten.  During public school years, she became a member and officer of PTA also serving as room mom with Mary Ann Maass and Nita Watson for all years of elementary school.  For two years, Pat could be found on Friday nights running the visitor side concession with Joe at football games.  An active member of the Hillsboro High School Band Booster Club, she and Joe were regular bus chaperones for away games and marching contests.  The most exciting and memorable year for Pat was traveling with Kathy Blount following the high school one act play all the way to state.  Pat was always there to support her child, all children, public education and every school campus.  A loyal supporter of Hill College, she hosted fun student government gatherings in her home.

Pat is a member of First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro.  For many years, she attended Line Street United Methodist Church where she was an active member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class, served as administrative board treasurer and chaired the staff-pastor-parish relations committee and meals for bereaved families.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Davison.  She is survived by her husband, Joe of Hillsboro; her son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Pamela Ward of Leander; two grandsons, the loves of her life, Taylor Ward of Dallas and Bryce Ward of College Station; one sister, Lib Lavender of Hillsboro; one brother, Mickey Davison and his wife, Diane, of Hillsboro; and nieces and nephews who fondly call her Auntie Pat or Aunt Pat.

Memorials may be made to Texas PTA, 408 W. 11th Street, Austin, Texas, 78701.  The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the caring and loving staff at Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
