Patricia Sue Galiga Terry passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on Friday, September 23, 2022.
If you would like to pay your respects, a service will be held Thursday, September 29, 2022. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, Texas and a Graveside Service at Hillcrest Garden of Memory Cemetery, Hillsboro, Texas at 2:00p.m.
Patricia was born on November 2, 1940, in Waxahachie, Texas, to her mother, Margaret Tittle Galiga, and her father, Palma T. Galiga. Patricia excelled academically, graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1959, and then earned a B.S. in Education with minors in Business Education & English from Southwest Texas State University, 1971, and a M.S. in Occupational Education from the University of Houston, 1986.
Patricia worked in education for many years including Westlake and Austin High Schools, Austin, TX; Jersey Village High School, Houston, TX; University of Houston, Houston, TX; Navarro College, Corsicana & Mexia, TX; Palestine Sixth Grade Center and Palestine At-Risk Center, Palestine, TX. She also substituted at Fairfield, Mexia, Hillsboro, and Bynum ISDs in Texas. She retired in 1998.
Patricia married Joel Reed Terry on January 28, 1961, and had two children, Charles Rhea Terry, and Gayla Ann Terry. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Hillsboro, TX; Texas Farm Bureau, Freestone County; Senior Circle Hill Regional Hospital, Hillsboro Heritage League, Hill County Cell Block Museum, and Daughter of the American Revolution. Patricia was an avid reader and a world traveler (she loved cruise ships!). Family and friends would describe her as loving, generous, and always thinking of others. She was able to make everyone laugh with her witty sense of humor. Family was especially important to her, and she loved to spend as much time with them as possible, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret T. Galiga; her father, Palma T. Galiga; her husband, Joel Reed Terry; her son, Charles Rhea Terry; and her sister, Lillie Margaret Himmel. She is survived by her brother, Joseph T. Galiga; her daughter, Gayla Ann Clark and her children, Laura Elizabeth Maler (husband, John Maler), Lisa Nicole Clark, and Anna Alexandra Clark; her grandsons Joel Randall Terry (wife, Amy Chapman Terry) and two great grandchildren, Emerson and Addison, and grandson, Marc Wayne Terry.
