Cherished Mother and Grandmother Patsy Bynum passed away on December 11th, 2022. Patsy was a strong, independent, and empathetic woman who was born in Dallas, Texas October 18, 1945. As a young woman, she started a family with her husband and 3 boys by the time she was 23. She was married to the love of her life Marshall Bynum who passed shortly before their 55th anniversary. In Patsy’s early life she focused on being a housewife and raised a family, but she was driven to achieve more. In Patsy’s youth, she became an accomplished concert pianist. Alongside being a homemaker, Patsy also had a professional career in real estate. Ever progressing, she also went back to school and completed a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and worked for American Airlines for several years. With her children grown, Patsy embarked on the next phase of her life combining her love of real estate and her love of nature by building a family retreat in Whitney, Tx. She started by opening a loan mortgage branch in Hillsboro, Tx while she also found property that would become Cherokee Village; a Lake Whitney vacation destination she ran with her husband Marshall for 20 years. It was this spot her Children, Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren would come and build decades of family memories.
Besides Patsy’s professional accomplishments, she always strived to build strong bonds with her family. She was a deep feeling, passionate matriarch of the family who sought a meaningful relationship with those who knew her. Patsy was invested in personal growth, and shared her life experience with those she loved. Patsy was a good listener and engaged in deep meaningful conversations to help people through hard times and find happiness. Anyone that knew her remembers the wisdom and heart-felt advice she gave.
Patsy struggled with lung disease and heart failure in her 70's. Marshall cared for her for several years until his death after which her Son Chuck cared for her so she could live out her days in the same home she built 20 years prior. She fought hard and had several setbacks and recoveries, but ultimately passed on December 11th surrounded by family.
She is survived by her Sons, Chuck, Dwayne, and Kirk; Her Grandchildren Alex, Andrew, Ashley, Tina, Sarah, Madison, Connor; Her Great Grandchildren Avery, AJ, Asher, Annabelle, Harper, and Evelyn, and her Sister Betty McCarthy. She will be sorely missed.
