Paul Hoyle

Paul Winston Hoyle, 89, of Hillsboro passed away Monday, February 10, 2014, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Mr. Mike Young officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at the funeral home.

Paul was born August 23, 1924 in Abbott to Ready Guy and Ina Isbel (Hammer) Hoyle. A lifelong resident of Hill county, he graduated from Abbott High School and went on to receive his Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Texas. During World War II, he served his country in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant and as a Paratrooper with 12 jumps behind German lines.

On September 12, 1948, he married Martha “Kitten” Embree in San Antonio. For more than 30 years, he owned City Drug. Paul was a member of Hillsboro Church of Christ and served as a song-leader and a shepherd at Elm Street Church of Christ, College Hill Church of Christ, and Hillsboro Church of Christ. He was also a member of Rotary Club, founding member of the Aquilla Water Supply District, and served on the Hillsboro School Board.

Preceding him in death were his parents; five brothers; two sisters; and a grandson, Seth Cunningham.

Survivors include his wife, Martha “Kitten” Hoyle of Hillsboro; two daughters, Betty Waits and husband, Gary, of Cleburne and Mary Ann Cunningham and husband, Joe, of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Heather Landrum and husband, Bobby, of Hillsboro, Josh Waits and wife, Jennifer, of Midlothian, Erin Blackwell and husband, Cody, of Austin, and Caleb Cunningham of Hillsboro; and four great-grandchildren, Jacey Waits, Blake Waits, Rylee Landrum, and Emilee Landrum.
