Pete Spires

Oliver "Pete" Spires, 66, of Whitney passed away Saturday, September 18, 2004 in a Waco hospital. He was the son of Freddie Lamar and Elsie Gertrude Davidson Spires. He joined the military at age 17 and traveled all over the world. He retired from the military at age 37. He was a member of international Order of Oddfellows and was very supportive of the community through his membership. He loved to talk, loved to talk military, history, gardening, crocheting and liked to read science fiction books. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Carl Brooks, Freddie Lamar Spires, Jr. and sister, Adelia Ann Spires. Survivors include his brother, James Arthur Spires and wife Billie Faye of Red Oak; sisters, Naomi Ruth Collins of Whitney, Rita Pauline Spires of Michigan, Aunt Evelyn, Uncle Joe Spires; nieces and nephews; Freddie Dee Spires, Reba Adeen Borth, Bill Parker, James Arthur Spires, Jr., Virginia Ann Collins, Gene Allen Collins, II, Glen Andrew Collins, Malachi Spires and other nieces and nephews; 4 grandnieces, Tori Michelle Parker, Rachel & Tara Borth, Jamie Lynn Spires; 4 grandnephews, Cody Alex Collins, Distin Whelen Spires, James Arthur Spires, III, Brandon Ray Spires and cat, Miss KiKi.
