Peter Michael Cargill, 65, of Whitney, Texas, went home to be with Jesus on June 9, 2022. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, Texas. Visitation will take place preceding the service from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Marshall and Marshall.
He was born on July 12th, 1956, to R.V. Cargill and Olena Helen (Nelson) Cargill in Laredo, Texas. As a child he excelled in school. In his teens, he and his brother Phillip received The Amelia Earhart Trophy in readiness for receiving their pilot’s license. He loved to cookout for the family and made the best BBQ sauce and brisket. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and working on things. He was an avid horseshoe player and at one time won a competition at the Astrodome in Houston. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Pete was always putting the needs of others before his own and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
On February 23, 1990, Pete married Glenda Sue McFatridge in Bosque County, Texas. The two were inseparable from that point on until she passed on February 4, 2020.
One of the kindest souls on this planet, he was a gentle, giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. Pete’s life would seem too short to many, but those of us who were Blessed to be touched by him understand that his existence and the imprint He left on our hearts exceed the quantity of time that He stayed here.
Now that Pete has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Pete’s physical life on Earth, it is the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for him. Pete joins his wife, brother, and parents in heaven.
Pete is predeceased by his wife, Glenda, his parents and his brother, Patrick. He is survived by his sisters, Peggy Vee Maier and Patricia Lee Pendergrass, brother Phillip D. Cargill; his children Cecelia Davis and husband Neil, Chris McFatridge and wife Terri, Tabitha Bourne and Vickie Dobbs and his seven grandchildren, Macie Dupree, Jonathan Daughenbaugh, Kaden Daughenbaugh, Kaylon McFatridge, Logan McFatridge, Jason McFatridge, and Bliss McFatridge; his great grandchildren Iris, Noah, Liam and Parker and numerous nieces and nephews.
