Priscilla H. Atkins, 89, of Cleburne passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Heritage Trails Nursing Home in Cleburne. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013, at Marshal & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. C. M. Huff officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Monday, prior to service time, at the funeral home.
Priscilla was born December 4, 1923 in Hillsboro to Jasper Otis and Jennie D. (Reed) Honeycutt. After graduating from Hillsboro High School, her family traveled around and moved to Alabama. While working in the cotton fields there, she met her husband, C. B. Atkins. The couple married on March 23, 1942 in Opelika, AL. After her husband entered World War II, she moved back to Hillsboro until the war was over. She later settled in Dallas in the early 1950's and also resided in Arlington for a number of years. In 1982, Priscilla moved back to Hillsboro. She was a member of Hillsboro Church of The Nazarene, where she was very active, and also did volunteer work at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home and Hill Regional Hospital.
Preceding her in death were her parents; step-mother, Vivian Honeycutt; husband; six sisters; and one brother.
Survivors include her three sons, Donald Otis Atkins and wife, Regina, of Austin, Gary Atkins and wife, Madelyn, of Cleburne, and Kenneth W. Atkins and wife, Cheryl, of Grapeland; brother, Tony Honeycutt and wife, Carleen, of Grand Prairie; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
