Pvt. Cody Ryan Patterson, 20, of Blum passed away on October 17, 2009. Cody was born on February 15, 1989 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the son of Ricky and Terry Neal Patterson. Cody took everything to the extreme from his pickup truck to loving his family. He attended Blum High School, where he accumulated many friends. Cody was the most loyal person you would ever meet. He received his high school diploma in 2007 and joined the Army in June of 2008 where he became a Calvary Scout. He graduated from boot camp in Sept. 2008 and was stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX. He was deployed to Iraq where he had served 5 months and was home on leave. He loved being a soldier and his family and community where very proud of all of his accomplishments. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rio Vista. He was preceded in death by his father Rickey Patterson, grandfather, Lloyd Dunlap and cousin, Anthony Tran. Survivors include his mother, Terry Garner and Bruce Arrington of Blum; brother, Kevin Garner of Belton; sister, Cari Ann Patterson of Blum; nephew, Cooper James Williams of Blum, brother-in-law, James Williams of Blum, grandmothers, Wanda Dunlap of Blum, Patsy Neal of Cleburne, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
