Ralph Harris

Ralph Harris, 88, of Whitney, passed away on January 11, 2016, at a Temple hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 15, 2016, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors with David Snipes officiating. Burial will follow at New Lebanon Cemetery near Aquilla. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at the funeral home.

Ralph was born on February 16, 1927, in Waco, to Joseph L. and Zonie Bell (Blackwell) Harris. He grew up in Waco and at the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in World War II in the Pacific Theater. On September 17, 1957, he married Bonnie Tyra and she preceded him in death on September 21, 2015. He owned and operated several diners and donut shops.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and a son Danny Willis.

Survivors include his son, Terry Harris of Whitney; grandchildren, Derek Harris, Teri Lynn Harris, Haley Lynn Harris and Ashley Willis; great-grandchildren, Dillon Friese Harris and Lelind Michael Harris; and brothers Bobby Joe Harris of Robinson and Doug Harris of Waco and Jan Roberts.
