Ralph Johnson, 77, of Whitney, passed away at Park Plaza Nursing home on Wednesday, December 25, 2013. Services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel with Bruce Martin, Whitney Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Friday, December 27, 2013, at the funeral home.
Ralph was born December 23, 1936, in Erath County to the late Elmer Edward and Alma Mae (Brown) Johnson. He grew up in Erath County before moving to Fort Worth when he was 15. For 34 years, he worked for the city of Fort Worth before retiring at age 50. While working for the city, he also ran his own business, Acme Mowing Company. He moved to Whitney in 1986. On May 18, 1996, he married Linda Bland. He loved his yard and doing yard work which he continued until his surgery. Fishing, playing cards games and dominoes, and traveling in his trailer were pastimes he enjoyed. He also loved cats and dogs. Ralph never met stranger. A member of Whitney Church of Christ, he recently found his salvation. He was also a member of American Legion Post 522 as well as serving as a volunteer fireman for 15 years with 2604 VFD.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Johnson of Whitney; children, Debra Johnson and Jackie Wynn of Fort Worth and Donald Johnson of Whitney; three step-children, Stuart and Ann Bland of Jacksonville, Michelle Bland of Whitney and Kim and Mike Treiber of Ocean Side, California; 4 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances Johnson of Seldon, Emma Trammell and husband, John of Proctor, Martha Vinson of Stephenville, Sherry Miller and husband, George of Marietta, Ohio;
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, Memorial & Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
