Ralph Allen Cordell, Sr. passed away Friday, February 19, 2021. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Texas. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Home with Ernie Christie officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Garden of Memory Cemetery in Hillsboro, Texas. Facial masks and social distancing are required.
Allen was born on August 25, 1946 to Ralph and Lucille (Schronk) Cordell. He grew up in Hill County and was a 1964 graduate of Bynum High School in Bynum, Texas. After graduation he briefly attended Hill Junior College in Hillsboro, Texas before joining the Texas National Guard. He married the love of his life, Ginger Payne in 1967 and resided in Hillsboro, Texas while he began farming with his father. He began working for Bailey Implement in Hillsboro in the late 1970s. Allen left in the early 1980s to become a co-owner of Clifton Implement in Clifton, Texas. Later he began his career in car sales when he worked for Cole Ford in Hillsboro, Texas. He worked in this industry until his health forced him to retire from Farm Bureau Fleet Division in the early 2000s.
Allen’s faith was his passion and he served as a deacon at Lake Shore Drive Church of Christ in Waco, Texas. After retirement Allen and Ginger moved back to Hillsboro and were members of Hillsboro Church of Christ.
Allen was proceeded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ginger Cordell of Hillsboro, Texas; Son Ralph Cordell, Jr. and wife Amber of Hillsboro; Daughter Jennifer Kidd and husband Nathan of China Spring; Granddaughter Emily Kidd of Granbury; Granddaughter Rachel Ketchum and husband Stephen of Whitney; Sister Brenda Williford and husband Ted of Waco, TX; Sister Shelly Medley and husband Chris of Mountain Home, Arkansas; Sister-in-Law Jamie Rosenbrook and husband Mike of Raleigh, North Carolina; Opal and Alton Daniels of Colleyville, TX. He is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and his many friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Hillsboro Church of Christ in Hillsboro, Texas.
