Ramon Salinas, 81, of Bynum, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on February 18, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of Ramon’s life will be held at Marhsall & Marshall Funeral Directors, 2495 Corsicana Hwy, Hillsboro, Texas 76645, with visitation on Friday, February 23rd from 6-8 PM and funeral service on Saturday, February 24th at 3 PM, with Pastor Edward Sumrall officiating (livestream available).
Ramon was born on October 18, 1942, in Nordheim, Texas to Adan and Matilda Salinas. After moving to Waco, he worked in road construction prior to his career in law enforcement. Ramon started with Waco Police Department, then served a brief stint with DFW International Airport Department of Public Safety, then returned to the Waco PD. He progressed from Patrolman to Special Tact Unit, Burglary Division, Drug Enforcement, and the Special Crimes Unit investigating major offenses. Retiring after seventeen years, Ramon left Waco PD to operate Salinas Security and Investigators Service, Inc. Working alongside his brother Richard, he continued to serve his community as the only known Hispanic private investigator in the area. After eight years he closed his business and in a full circle moment returned to his road construction roots for McLennan County until he retired. Ramon met and married his “Corazón,” Rosita. He enjoyed spending his time working in his barn and tinkering on his ’49 Chevy truck. Ramon was always happiest when surrounded by his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Ricky Gonzales.
