Ray Glenn Adkins, Jr., 62, of Bynum passed away Saturday morning, May 26, 2018, at Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Walnut Street Baptist Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Paul Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Brandon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Born December 5, 1955 in Hillsboro, he was the son of Ray Glenn, Sr. and Mary Ray (Moffett) Adkins. He grew up in the Hillsboro and Hubbard areas. For over 30 years, Ray was self-employed in the painting and drywall business. On August 17, 1982, he was united in marriage to Deborah Couch in Hillsboro.
His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Ray enjoyed playing board games with them, especially checkers, Wahoo, and chess. He loved reading and studying the Bible and was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church in Hillsboro.
Preceding him in death were his parents and infant grandson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Debbie Adkins of Bynum; two children, Anthony Aaron Adkins of Bynum and Misty Rae Adkins of Brandon; brother, Tony Adkins and wife, Jeanette, of Leroy; five grandchildren, Steven Shaw, Caitlyn Barberena, and C. J. Barberena, all of Brandon, Kasen Adkins of Corsicana, and Olive Adkins of Belton; as well as numerous nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
