Raymon Gordon Warren age 86 passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at 1:50 p.m. in Whitney. Raymon Gordon Warren was born October 31, 1920 in Prairieville, Texas, Kaufman County. When he was six years old, his family moved to Eastland, Texas where he grew up. He married Velma Lee Tickner of Cisco, Texas on October 5, 1940. They lived in Eastland until May of 1941. Then they moved to Fort Worth where Raymon went to work for Armour & Co. until August of 1942, when he joined the U. S. Navy. While in the Navy, Raymon rose from Apprentice Seaman to Ship?s Cook Butcher - Second Class SCB2/C. Raymon was never assigned to a ship, but spent most of his time at shore stations. First was the Naval Air Station in Grand Prairie, Texas, then to Camp Elliott near San Diego, California, then to San Bruno, California. On the Philippine Islands, he was at Guianian Naval Base on the island of Samar. Later, Raymon spent time with the 104 th SeaBees. Some time after he was discharged from the Navy, he spent 21 years with General Dynamics in Fort Worth and 11 years with Bell Helicopter. Raymon moved to Whitney, Texas in December of 2000. He was a member of King Memorial United Methodist Church. He was also an active member of VFW Post 8571 and the American Legion Post 522. Raymon was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Warren, Velma Lee, his beloved wife of 60 years and 13 days, and an infant son, Raymon Dwain Warren. Survivors include his daughter, Anncenetta Lipscomb and son-in-law, Ron Lipscomb of Whitney, Texas. Also grandson, Brian Ray Lipscomb of Canyon Lake, and granddaughter, Alicia Pierpont and husband, Bradley of Lockhart, one great-grandson, Landon Ray Pierpont. Also surviving are nephews, Darrel Warren of Buchanan Dam, Texas, Dwain Warren of Richardson, Texas and Lynal Cloyd of Kingman, Arizona.
