Raymond Floyd Wilson, age 72, of Eddy, Texas died peacefully at his home following a brief battle with cancer and kidney disease, on Friday, May 14, 2021. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm on Friday, May 21, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors’ Chapel in Whitney, Texas.
Raymond was born on December 23, 1948 to Floyd Wilson and his wife Haydee Wilson in Hillsboro, Texas. Raymond graduated from Whitney high school ln May 1967 and Hill Junior college in May 1970 where he received his Associate in Arts Degree. Raymond volunteered in the U.S. Air Force. He was on active duty from November 1970 to. April 1974, when he was honorably discharged. Raymond was proud of his service and served as Nuclear Weapons Specialist. His decorations include the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal as well as Certificate of Merit for his role in the Strategic Air Command. Following his discharge Raymond worked as a Master plumber alongside his brother and father and was very proud of being a third generation plumber. Raymond married Patricia Ann Parker on February 3, 1995 in Belton they spent the majority of the life together fishing and camping all over the state of Texas but by far their favorite spot was overlooking the bluffs at Lake Whitney.
He is survived by his daughter, Trish Wilson-Hayes (John); sons, Zachary and Brian Wilson; step-sons Matthew and Jamie Parker (Vanessa); sister Elaine Schriver (Cecil); brother, Robert Wilson (Barbara) sisters-in-law Janis Parker and Frances Sims (Shawn) and brother-in-law Melvin Parker (Diane) granddaughters Macenzie Poehl s (Thomason), Hailey Poehls (James), Rebecca Hutton (Jay) and Madison Wilson; grandsons, Cody Poehls (Blaine) Garrett and Trevon Wilson; step grandchildren, Mara, Savanna, Trinity, and Naomi Parker and Madysen and Brady Parker, Hannah Akin (Alston) and great-grandsons Benjamin Hutton and Hayes Overbaugh; step-great-grandchildren, Baylee and Axl Akin and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pat, parents, Floyd and Haydee Wilson and daughter-in- law, Kelly Wilson.
Thank you to the many people who helped us to keep Dad at home and give him the care he needed especially the staff at Visiting Angels Waco. Special thanks to the nurses, aides and volunteers at Interim Hospice that gave us the gift of Dad passing away at home. In lieu of flowers if you wish please make memorials in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project or Meals on Wheels.
