Rene Salinas

Rene G. Salinas, 59, of Waco passed away Monday morning, September 18, 2017, at the Doris Miller Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Waco. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro with Father Ouseph Thekkumthala of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Rene was born July 8, 1958 in Bishop to Jose G. and Maria (Garcia) Salinas. Since 1965, he had resided in Hillsboro where he attended school. On January 2, 1976, he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. Rene was honorably discharged on January 26, 1978. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was of the Catholic faith.

Preceding him in death were his father and a sister, Sandra Daughtery.

Survivors include his mother, Maria G. Salinas of Whitney; four brothers, Hector Salinas and friend, Margaret, of Victoria, Joe Salinas of Corpus Christi, Fernando Salinas and wife, Nita, of Beeville, and Cheve Salinas and wife, Frances, of Hillsboro; two sisters, Diana Balderas and husband, Robert, of Whitney and Norma Martinez of Kansas; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
