Rev. Andy Andersen, 62 of Whitney passed away on May 5, 2010 in Temple. Rev. Andersen was born on August 25, 1947 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of the late Arnold George Crawford Andersen, Sr. and Eleanor Leister Andersen. He lived in Boston until joining the United States Air Force and spending four years at Shepard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls. On June 12, 1970, Andy married the love of his life, Shirley Capps. After studying at the Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, Andy served as an associate pastor in two churches over 25 years, and Pastor in Rhode Island for two years before moving to Whitney. He had served as Pastor for the Missionary Baptist Church for eleven years and was a chaplain for the Hill County Fire and Police Departments and the Victims Relief Ministry of Dallas. Survivors include his wife, Shirley of 39 years whom he shared his last thoughts But if I don't make it through this operation I will ask God if I can replace her current guarding angel with me, so I can be near her as long as she lives
