Rev. Donald Bahr

Rev. Donald Gustav Bahr was called to his heavenly home on November 12, 2018 at the age of 87. A funeral service to celebrate Don’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors. Rev. Michael Nemec will officiate. A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Marshall and Marshall in Hillsboro. Interment will be on Tuesday, November 20 at noon at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Don was born on April 17, 1931, in Denver, CO. After graduating from St. John’s Academy/College in Winfield, Kansas, he married Frieda Kasper and then served in the Army during the Korean War. After the War, Don and Frieda moved to Seward, Nebraska to attend Concordia University. Upon graduation, Don and family moved to Texas where he was a teacher, coach, athletic director, and principal for 23 years for Houston and Austin area Lutheran schools. In 1979, Don transitioned to becoming a Lutheran pastor by moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana to attend Concordia Theological Seminary. After graduating, he was then a pastor serving Texas Lutheran congregations and being God’s faithful servant for many years.

Don/Dad/Grandpa will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Frieda; their children, Diana Crosson and husband, Ed, Donald Bahr and wife, Phyllis, Cindy Moore and husband, Robert, Richard Bahr and Michael Bahr and wife, Pamela; their grandchildren, Timothy, Gregg, Jenny, Natalie, Kayla, Shawn, Chelsea, and Jeremy; their great-grandchildren, AnnaBell, Parker, Nickolas, and Matthew; sister, Janice along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and those whose lives that he impacted greatly.

He will be missed, but we rejoice with him as he now sings with the angels, albeit a little off-key, at the feet of Jesus himself.
