Rev. James Jones

Rev. James E. "Jim" Jones, 78, of Whitney passed away on March 26, 2007 in Temple, Texas. He was the son of Gilbert and Mattie Armstrong Jones. Jim served proudly in the United States Marine Corps from April 1, 1952 thru October 1973. He flew the presidential detail during the Eisenhower Administration and he also worked with NASA on the space capsule recovery. He pastored Nazarene Churches in California, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and North Carolina, retiring in 2006. On Feb. 1, 1980 he married Dorothy Wagner in Hobbs, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia Armstrong. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Whitney; children, Janeece Morgan and husband, Dave of Sutherland Springs, Ernest Dickerson of Ardmore, OK, Gayla Reimer and husband, Brian of Navarre, FL, Dee Vaughn and husband, Ed of Oak Point; brothers, Steve Jones and wife, Kitty of Beckley, WV, Lewis Jones and wife, Shirley of Winston Salem, NC, Bobby Jones and wife, Brenda of Oak Hill, WV; sisters, Mary Blevins and husband, Ernie of Crab Orchard, WV, Charlene Sizemore of Beckley, WV, Shirley Belcher of Wilcoe, WV; 4 grandchildren, Robert L. Lingenfelter and wife, Deane of Fort Rucker, Alabama, Denesha Vanderburg of Denton, James Haynes of Oak Point, Andrea Vaughn of Oak Point; 1 great granddaughter, Mia Lingenfelter of Fort Rucker, Alabama.
