Richard Wayne Black

Richard Black, 89, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Heritage Park Village Assisted Living. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, August 26, 2022, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro, Texas. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, Friday, August 26, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro, Texas.

Richard was born July 21, 1933, in Hillsboro, Texas, to Kenzie and Irene (Nichols) Black. He graduated from Hillsboro High School then continued his education at Texas Christian University. After graduating from TCU, he joined the United States Air Force, serving for twenty-seven years. Richard was especially proud of being a Missile Silo Commander during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. He married his high school sweetheart, Bettie Rue Huckaby in 1955. They would have celebrated sixty-three years of marriage in September.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenzie and Irene Black; his wife, Bettie Black; and his brother, Henry Black.
