Richard Louis Drescher, 68, of Whitney, passed away on August 27, 2015, at a local nursing home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 10, 2015, at the Open Range Cowboy Church in Whitney, with Dr. Gerald Dudley officiating.
Richard was born on April 23, 1947, in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, to Louis Cyril and Anna Mary (Kinman) Drescher. He graduated from Seneca Valley High School in Seneca, Pennsylvania, in 1965. On November 24, 1978, he married Jean Thompson. Richard was a retired structural engineer and project manager and worked in nuclear plants in Florida, Tennessee and New York, and after retiring in 2005, he moved from Baldwinsville, New York to Whitney. He enjoyed air shows, art museums and aeronautics as well as traveling and attending gun shows and was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Richard was a former member of the Zelienople Fire Department and the National Rifle Association. He was a very active member of the Open Range Cowboy Church in Whitney.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a daughter, Laura Jean Fulford.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Drescher; children, Sten Michael Drescher of Austin; Cynthia Marie Drescher of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Jennifer Nichole Riedy of Allentown, Pennsylvania; Deborah Lee Sinclair of Sunrise, Florida, and Donald Ray Cade of Johnstown, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Brian Robert Cade, Nathan Russell Cade, Thomas Lee Fulford, Lindsay Ann Fulford, Nicole Lynn Fulford, Matthew David Sinclair, Jessica Riedy, Katie Riedy, Sean Riedy, Joshua Riedy, Jason Riedy, and Sophia Riedy; 9 great-grandchildren and a great-grandson on the way; brother, John G. Drescher and wife, Joyce of Chicara, Pennsylvania and sisters, Cathy L. Powell and husband, Richard, of Harmony, Pennsylvania, Judy A. Lipcsak and husband, George of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania and Elizabeth L. Drescher of San Jose, California.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Open Range Cowboy Church, P.O. Box 1603, Whitney, TX 76692.
