Richard Rogers

Richard James Rogers, 71, of Whitney, Texas, went to be with the Lord, March 12, 2019, surrounded by his family. A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, March 15, 2019, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 10:00 -Noon prior to the service time at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Richard was born on June 15, 1947, in Alvin, Texas, the son of Obie and Louise Rogers. He was raised in Arcadia, Texas with his older brother, Don Rogers. He married the love of his life, Marsha, on June 2, 1973, and they moved to Whitney, Texas to raise their four daughters. Richard worked as a tool and dye maker and enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a loving and devoted husband, dad, son, brother, uncle and PaPaw who cherished his family dearly.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marsha Rogers; daughter Melanie Button and husband, Donnie of Whitney, daughter Sheri Rogers Wilson of Whitney, daughter Joanna Ruesch and husband Michael of Whitney, and daughter Lacey Montes and husband Erik of Aledo; thirteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Donations in memory of Richard can be made to Providence Hospice Place at St. Catherine’s, 300 W. Highway 6, Waco, Texas 76712.
