Richard Lynn Smith

Richard “Ricky” Lynn Smith, 71, of Hillsboro, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 20, 2022.  Ricky was a true “Giving Tree,” as he would give all that he had for those he loved. A veteran of Vietnam, Ricky “Tex” Smith spent time in Thailand with the Air Force working as an aircraft mechanic.  When he returned home, he traveled through Texas working as a forklift mechanic in Houston and Dallas before settling into Waco, Texas. Upon the death of his best friend and father, Ricky moved to Hillsboro to provide support for his mother and help raise his niece and nephew.  He remained the caretaker of the family through his last day as his last evening was spent preparing brown beans and cornbread for his older sister.

Ricky was preceded in death by his mother and father, Barney and Margie Smith, as well as his sister, Sherri R. Sinkule. He will be missed by his six remaining siblings including three sisters, Carolyn Taylor, Cathye and husband, Steve Miller, Terri and husband, Gary Kelm, and three brothers, Mike Smith and his wife, Linda, David Smith and his wife Carolyn, and Tommy Smith and his wife, Terry. He leaves behind broken-hearted nieces and nephews and grandson, Maxwell.
